Apiary Almanac · Vol. I · Season 2026 CombLog
A beekeeper's field journal

Keep a hive-by-hive journal through every season.

We're building CombLog — log every inspection, per hive: queen, brood, stores, treatments, honey pulls. One record that survives the whole season.

What the dead-out didn't tell you

In the worst recent year, beekeepers lost about 55.6% of their colonies.

The colonies that die are usually the ones nobody wrote anything down about. It's the inspection you meant to record but didn't — 95° in the veil, smoker going out, gloves on, hands full. By the next visit the detail is gone.

CombLog keeps a per-hive record that survives the season. So "the queen looked off three weeks ago" is a note you can act on — not a regret you piece together over a dead-out.

What we're building

The inspection card.

None of this exists yet — that's why we want you on the list.
01

Per-hive inspection log

Queen status, brood pattern, stores, temperament — one card per visit. Is she queenright? Spot a supersedure cell? Write it once, in the yard.

02

Treatments & mite tracking

Record Varroa washes and treatments with dates that actually add up — so you know your mite count and when you last treated each colony.

03

Honey pulls & stores

Supers on, frames pulled, pounds logged per hive. Know which colonies are carrying their weight and which are light going into fall.

04

Reminders & season reports

When to check mites, when to treat — plus an end-of-season per-hive history: splits, requeens, nucs, honey, overwinter survival.

When does it launch?

We're building it now. The waitlist gets early access in 2026 — in time to start a season with it. We'd rather ship it right than ship it loud.

What do I get for signing up?

First access, a real say in what we build, and launch pricing locked in. Founding beekeepers help shape the inspection card before it's set.

Can I log inspections in the field, with gloves on?

Yes — fast entry is the whole point. The notebook loses the entries you skip when it's hot and your hands are full. That's exactly the part we're building for.

Will my hive records be stuck in the app?

No. Export everything, anytime. Your inspection history is yours — we just keep it legible.

Does it replace my mentor or my state inspector?

No. It's a record, not advice. Keep your mentor, keep your bee club, keep your inspector. CombLog just remembers what you saw.
